About Us
Where it all began...
I started owning chickens, best I can figure, 1992. For many years I owned only bantams, Cochins in particular. Over the years I have owned different breeds, eventually standard size breeds and ultimately have wound up with my biggest focus on Brahmas. about 85 percent of my birds are Brahmas, both large fowl and bantams. But this breed, in the show world, only comes in 3 colors. Which just isn't enough to satisfy my love and interest in color genetics. Which couldn't really be more complicated than it is in birds. Brahmas are my particular favorites due to their large size, calm temperaments, pea combs (which do not have the large points that often get frostbitten in our harsh winters) and feathered legs which also keep legs and feet warm in the winter.
My beginnings with sheep started in 2007 and again, over the years having had several different breeds, eventually found my start with Finnsheep in 2011. Again fulfilling my love of color genetics with their variety of colors and markings, smaller, easy to manage size, gorgeous soft fleeces, and sweet temperaments, as well as being great mothers to multiple lambs (triplets and quadruplets). It is also extremely desirable that they have naturally short tails that don't need to be docked, and are naturally polled, which means they have no horns. So de-horning is not needed.
Having recently moved the whole farm from Oneida to Kirkville NY in 2019 I have combined Two Moon Acres with Alvord Manor Farm.
I also have the new addition of Romeldale CVM and Jacob cross to my flock. Both being smaller, easy to manage breeds with unique colors and beautiful fleeces.
